Award-winning growth

Poppe + Potthoff Hungária Kft. is “2015 Large Company of the Year”

Werther (Germany) / Ajka (Hungary), December 10, 2015 - Committed employees manufacture top quality common rail systems and high pressure lines at the Poppe + Potthoff Group’s Hungarian site. The Veszprém Chamber of Industry and Commerce and regional newspaper Napló has now awarded the company a prize for its above-average growth.

Poppe + Potthoff has been manufacturing high pressure rails and lines in Ajka since 2003. Investment in a completely new production area now allows the final steps in the manufacturing of cold-drawn precision steel tubes to also be completed at the site. This represents an entirely new technology for the Hungarian site.

“In addition to drawing of the tubes we have also added the new capacity of coating lines and rails,” says László Gellén, CFO of the Ajka tube works. “The project, which had a total investment volume of 20 million euros, was completed at the end of 2013. This was a major event for us, comparable with the start-up period in 2003.”

Investment in the plant has also lead to a significant increase in the workforce, with the company currently employing some 500 workers. Larger manufacturing volumes have also resulted in greater turnover – approx. 60 million euros in 2014. The factory numbers OEMS such as Daimler, BMW, Renault, Caterpillar, Delphi and Cummins among its customers.
